For these statistics both the volume and value of production are normally reported. Total production includes all the enterprise's production, whether it is sold or retained by the enterprise for further processing - for instance steel ingots that an enterprise produces and then either sells or uses to roll into sheet steel or to draw into wire. Because not all total production is sold, it is not possible to give it a value - only the volume is reported. There is no correlation between sold and total production, except that where both are reported for the same product, we would not expect sold production to be greater than total, since sold is included in total. Total production is not required for all products (only those that are likely to be retained for further processing).
