DATA_DESCR The Demand for services collection contains harmonised statistics on demand for services by enterprises in the non-financial business economy. The Demand for services collection includes the following variables: number of enterprises purchases of services service related investments The demand side survey "demand for services" provides information on the functioning of the internal market for services, allowing a more profound understanding of the true extent of the use of services in the European economy. It provides information on service providers, types of service purchased, the location of the main service provider, barriers to purchasing services, the level of expectations for future purchases, as well as information on service related investments in intangibles (such as tradable rights, ICT, R&D, marketing and sales).
CLASS_SYSTEM Data are collected under Gentlemen agreement within the context of the development of Structural Business Statistics. Demand for services statistics are classified according to the NACE Rev.1.1 classification.
STAT_CONC_DEF Three characteristics are collected. The characteristic 11 11 0 is defined in the Annex to Commission Regulation (EC) No 2700/98 of 17 December 1998 concerning the definitions of characteristics for structural business statistics. The other two characteristics 13 13 2 and 15 45 0 were defined only within and for the project. 11 11 0 number of enterprises 13 13 2 purchases of services 15 45 0 service related investments All these characteristics have several breakdowns. Number of enterprises is broken down by e.g. main service provider, location of main service provider, barriers perceived etc. Purchases of services are broken down by service category and service related investments by type of investments as follows: Services Transport, logistics and postal services ICT services Marketing and sales related services Professional and business services Financial and insurance services Renting and operational leasing Research and development services Architectural, engineering and related technical consultancy services Auxiliary services Royalties and license fees Human resources related services Other services Service related investments Investments in tradable rights ICT-investments Balanced costs for research and development and similar investments Balanced costs for marketing and sales related services Other balanced costs related to services The data included in the Demand for services collection are flow data and they are expressed in value (million Euros) or units.
STAT_UNIT The Demand for services statistics refer to enterprises.
STAT_POP The statistical population consists of enterprises classified in the NACE Rev.1.1: Sections D to I, K, Division 90 and Groups 92.1+92.2.
REF_AREA Denmark, Germany, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia, Finland and Sweden.
BASE_PER Not relevant for Demand for services statistics.
UNIT_MEASURE Monetary data are expressed in million of Euro/ECU. Number of enterprises variable is in units.
