GDP (gross domestic product) is an indicator of the economic activity of a country or a region. It reflects the total value of all goods and services produced less the value of goods and services used for intermediate consumption in their production. Recently Eurostat has started to collect real growth rates of regional GDP at NUTS level 2 fom those Member States which calculate this already, and to estimate it for those which do not yet calculate this indicator. It should be noted that this indicator is not part of the ESA95 data transmission programme and that a harmonised methodology agreed by Member States is not yet available.
