The railway goods transport also increased during the last years, but not at all in the same pace as road transport. The conclusion is that the number of tkm by road is much greater than the tkm performed by rail. This increase is there in spite of a decreasing network and less rolling stock, which must indicate that the efficiency of the rail industry today is higher.
